Our picnic at Hanging Rock

Everyone has to do this :-) Take a picnic out to Hanging Rock in teh Macedon Ranges, north west of the city. This interesting geological feature (a mamelon) is reputed to have a strange and eerie atmosphere. The book written by Joan Lindsay in the late 60's spawned a film which made this place famous. A lot of visitors come here, expecially at Easter weekend!

An early explorer T. Scott, left his name carved on the stone. George is posing with our GPS for the purposes of an Earth Cache which we were attempting up here.

The view from the top was great. It was a clear sunny day and you could see for miles.

Some inquisitive wildlife came to watch us each our picnic. Probably in the hope of some dropped crumbs. Not sure which of the hundreds of varieties of local skink this one is.
